Would you like to take part in a research interview?

The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training (Udir) is conducting a study on the digital course The Norwegian Kindergarten and School System. In addition to the survey, we would like to learn more about your experiences. This letter is an invitation to take part in a telephone interview.

Purpose
The purpose of the project is to evaluate the course’s usefulness and the extent to which it motivates and better equips refugees and immigrants to apply for jobs in kindergartens, after-school programmes (SFO), and schools. The insights will also inform further development of the course and Udir’s future support resources.

Who is responsible for the project?

Oxford Research is conducting the evaluation on behalf of the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training (Udir). Udir is the data controller for the processing of personal data.

Why are you being invited, and what does participation involve?

Data for this project are collected through a survey and interviews with people who have completed the course, as well as leaders (principals, assistant principals and HR managers responsible for recruitment) in SFOs and schools, and leaders (kindergarten directors/managers and pedagogical leaders) in kindergartens.

We kindly ask that you set aside about 30 minutes for a telephone interview. The interview will not be audio recorded; instead, we will take notes in real time.

Participation is voluntary

The interview is voluntary. You may withdraw your consent at any time, without giving a reason. If you do so, we will delete all personal data we hold about you. Choosing not to participate will have no negative consequences for you.

Your privacy – how we store and use your information

Your personal data will only be used for the purposes described in this document. It will be processed confidentially and in accordance with applicable data protection legislation:

  • When you enter your email address and/or telephone number in the online form, your contact details will be retained in SurveyXact until we have contacted you and completed the interview, after which they will be deleted.
  • After the interview, the notes will be pseudonymised and will contain only a de-identified reference number. The linking key will be encrypted, password-protected and stored in a separate folder accessible only to members of the Oxford Research project team.
  • To prevent unauthorised access, information will be stored in SharePoint through licensed use of Office 365. All access to the servers is encrypted and requires two-factor authentication. In the project report, all participants will be anonymised so that individuals cannot be identified. Place names and other potentially identifying details will be altered or omitted from quotations. In all other cases, interview data will be reported in aggregated form, based on input from multiple informants. Oxford Research will not share personal data with anyone other than the following recipients:
  • Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd – operation of Microsoft 365/SharePoint (storage and internal collaboration). Microsoft processes pseudonymised interview notes and the linking key on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
  • Rambøll – operation of SurveyXact. Rambøll processes your contact details (telephone number and/or email address) on our behalf under a data processing agreement.

The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training will not receive any information that could identify you.

What happens to your data when the evaluation project ends?

The project is scheduled to conclude on 20 March 2026. All personal data will be deleted within 14 days after the end of the contract period.

Your rights

As long as you can be identified in the data, you have the right to:

  • obtain access to the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate personal data corrected;
  • have your personal data deleted;
  • receive a copy of your personal data (data portability); and
  • lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) regarding our processing of your personal data.

What is the legal basis for processing your personal data?

We process your personal data on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). If you no longer consent to the processing of your personal data, it will be deleted.
You may withdraw your consent by contacting the Data Protection Officer at Oxford Research. See contact details below.
